Get sorted for Fathers’ Day with OnPole.com

,

Just a reminder – it’s Fathers’ Day on June 15 (that’s shoehorned in between the Canadian and French Grands Prix, to help you get your bearings). Here are a few tips for solving present problems for the petrolheads and racing nuts in your households from motorsport merchandising site OnPole.com:

  • Playseats – these are expensive, but great fun, allowing you to simulate a more realistic racing experience while playing video games. Did we say you? Slip of the tongue. We meant husband/partner/dad, naturally…
  • Jim Bamber gifts – Bamber’s bubble-headed cartoon racing drivers will be familiar to all motorsport fans – and now you can get cars and figures in three dimensions. Choices include Williams, Honda or Red Bull pit crew plus those team’s racing cars. You could even wallow in nostalgia with Super Aguri merchandise.
  • 1:18 Diecast F1 Vodafone McLaren Mercedes MP4-23 L Hamilton – The latest model of Hamilton’s possibly championship-winning motor. This is so new it’s still on pre-order – but letting Dad know he’s going to be one of the first people in receipt of this highly desirable item when it becomes available later in the year sounds like a damn good idea to us…
  • Vodafone McLaren Mercedes team t-shirt – according to the retailer it uses the latest breathable polycool fabrics, for high-performance moisture control and a unique breathable venting system which exposes the rocket red interior on movement. We think this means: it looks cool and it is cool. Double up with the Playseat, above, for the ultimate pretending-to-be-Lewis experience.
  • F1 toiletries gift sets – the retailer is making no promises about this range, certainly not that it will give you a Hamiltonesque choice of escorts when attending races. That’ll probably boost its popularity as a Fathers’ Day gift, come to think of it…

If none of these hit the spot, try the following, from Grand Prix Legends: a 1/18 Porsche Carrera GT die-cast model; The Porsche Carrera GT book; or even the Porsche Thrill driving experience from Buyagift.co.uk. We don’t think they let you loose in the Carrera GT in this one, it’s a bit too rare for that. But that means that if your old man should give it a bang, it wouldn’t be anything like such a big deal…

Only joking, Mr Hamilton!
