SLF: Tappy surrenders Tottenham drive to Bernoldi

Superleague Formula’s mid-season driver shakeup has come as bad news for Tottenham Hotspur driver Duncan Tappy, who has lost out to former F1 pilot Enrique Bernoldi.

Bernoldi, a Brazilian who (as all of David Coulthard’s fans will recall) used to drive for Arrows, has been competing in the American Indy Racing League (IRL) during the 2008 season, and is taking over the Tottenham drive for the upcoming race in Portugal.

As organisers had pointed out in an earlier press release, Tappy had been heading to the Estoril circuit for the second time this year after a World Series outing there last month.

But, as they also remind supporters, it’s the team not the driver that counts in this championship – so Tappy is sitting this one out.

This weekend’s Superleague Formula round at Estoril is the fourth of six events in a 12-race season.

It kicks off with three practice sessions on Saturday morning before the qualifying shoot-out at 1.15 pm local time

The first of Sunday’s two races begins at 11am. Both races run for to 44 minutes plus one lap. The second race at 2pm features a reverse grid.
