Ronaldo writes off his Fiorano

In our quest to serve up the exploits of those people who really shouldn’t have beautiful motors if they can’t treat them properly, we bring you… drum roll… Cristiano Ronaldo.

Until very recently the 23-year-old Manchester United winger was the owner of a Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano – one of the marque’s most exclusive models which has only been in production for a couple of years.

Unfortunately for the winger, he winged it in spectacular fashion, crashing it into a barrier while driving on the A538 through Manchester, a road that goes into a tunnel in order to cross that city’s airport runway, and is thought to have written it off in the process.

Update: And plenty more here from The Mirror >>

The footballer was believed to be on his way to training at his club’s Sale ground. Just behind him, apparently, was Edwin Van Der Saar in a Bentley, which escaped unscathed.

Both footballers were also unharmed.

The Telegraph reports how police had a little chat with Ronaldo afterwards, including asking for his autograph on their breathalyser machine, thankfully with no untoward consequences.

According to Top Gear, who take the same kind of macabre pleasure in crashes like this as we do, the boy does have one or two fallback options – including a BMW M6, a Porsche 911, a Bentley Conti GTC and a Rolls Royce Phantom.

Or he could join his rival Robinho on the bus…

Well, at least he didn’t smash the Porsche up, that’s all we can say. Who cares about the Ferrari, really?

Only joking!
