F1: in the last few hours of the transfer window…

Having got home from holiday and sat down to update the site, we were alarmed to learn we were in the last few hours of the transfer window for McLaren’s Grand Prix League fantasy F1 competition.

And, with the Brits on Pole team ranked at 13,258th out of a total 19,515 players, it was clearly imperative that we took advantage of the opportunity to unload a bit of baggage.

As it was sentiment that got us into this mess in the first place, we took the opportunity to analyze what was working for the winning players.

And it was, in two words, BMW and Toyota.

Luckily we’ve already got the former, and we’ve had to dump Red Bull to get the latter. Sorry boys, but you’re just not doing the fantasy F1 business for us.

And we’ve also got to make the unfortunate announcement of letting Adrian Sutil go in favour of Jarno Trulli.

We’re stuck with Super Aguri still – their net worth is so low that we’d simply be wasting a valuable swapping opportunity to release something that couldn’t bring us anything in return. It’ll be interesting to see what happens if they go out of business after the next race.

Hopefully with these modifications we’ll be able to climb up the standings a bit after Barcelona.

Or maybe there’s a wooden spoon prize?
