David Coulthard has been forced to pull out of his Red Bull team’s latest Barcelona test session after injuring his neck on the first day.

His stats were noticeably down after yesterday’s session when he was the slowest driver on the track, putting in a mere 25 laps.

And today the reason was revealed – the Scot hurt a neck muscle and was due to be replaced today by Toro Rosso’s Sebastian Vettel stepping up to the Red Bull A-car.

He is reported to be hoping that the injury can be treated in time for him take part in the third day of the session, and to be acting cautiously in order not to aggravate it with less than a month to go to the season-opening grand prix.

The team has confirmed that it is not serious.
