F3: Sims gets his maiden Euroseries win

Alexander Sims has taken his first victory in Formula 3 Euroseries in a one-two for his Mucke Motorsport squad at the Nurburgring.

Sims was on the front row after qualifying, next to polesitting team-mate Christian Vietoris, and took the lead at the start despite a close encounter with the pitwall at Vietoris’ hands.

Vietoris continued to pressure Sims throughout the opening laps – until the Brit put his foot down to create successively more clean air between them.

Third was Signature’s Mika Maki, ahead of ART’s Valtteri Bottas, Jules Bianchi and Esteban Gutierrez, all fresh from occupying the podium in race one.

In that contest, Mucke’s Sam Bird was fourth, Sims was seventh and Tandy 19th. The Kolles driver fared even worse in race two, after being forced to retire after one lap while Bird was placed eighth.
