Just a quick update to say that the final total raised by BritsOnPole’s Andy & LJH was a brilliant £350 against an initial target of £200. Many, many thanks to everyone who contributed!
Well, we did it. Yes it was cold – but no, it wasn’t as cold as we feared! If you missed the previous post, BritsOnPole’s Andy and LJH took part in the 2013 Boxing Day Dip at Cromer in Norfolk to raise money for the Henry Surtees Foundation.
While most people will spend Boxing Day with their feet up in front of the fire snacking on left-overs, BritsOnPole.com’s co-founder Andy Darley is to put aside the comforts of Christmas and dash into the chilly sea on behalf of the Henry Surtees Foundation.

Our new episode is up on YouTube, and embedded here. It leads with a look at the UEA Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts exhibition of masterpieces, which includes a Lotus Type 72. There is also an interview with Sam Bird, five quick questions for Duncan Tappy, and a look at who’s leading the BRDC Gold Star standings.
Interviewed before the F1 Indian Grand Prix and the GP2 Series title showdown in Abu Dhabi, Mercedes reserve driver Sam Bird talks about about his career to date, his future plans, the state of F1 – and his pet tortoise.

On Sunday Brits on Pole was at a rainy Silverstone for the Blancpain Endurance Series, where a number of drivers we’ve regularly covered in single-seaters were in action. They included ex-Superleague Formula race-winner Duncan Tappy who qualified his McLaren MP4-12C third. We caught up with Duncan before and after the race in the ART Grand Prix garage.
