He is set to take part in a paddock Q&A session and appear in a circuit parade in a Mercedes road car as well as meeting two competition winners.

Hamilton said about the September 6 appearance: “It’s great to be going back to the DTM at Brands Hatch again. It is always fantastic to have the opportunity to spend time with British motorsport fans and thank them for their support.

“I raced in the support series for DTM, the Formula 3 Eursoeries, for two seasons so had the opportunity to watch most of the races at that time. The DTM always sees lots of drama and overtaking, and I would definitely recommend it as a good family day out.”

Jonathan Palmer, Chief Executive of MotorSport Vision, the company that runs Brands Hatch, added: “We’re delighted that once again Lewis Hamilton is able to join us at Brands Hatch for the DTM event. Lewis thrilled the crowds with his appearance last year, and it is fantastic that British fans will have the opportunity to see him again this year as F1 World Champion.”

The German touring car series is also a great opportunity to see a number of British drivers in action including Gary Paffett, Hamilton’s colleague at McLaren, who is currently third in the driver standings and the highest-placed Mercedes driver.

Also driving in the series are Paul di Resta, tipped for a future F1 drive with a Mercedes-powered team, former Champ Car pilot Katherine Legge and A1 Team GBR veteran Oliver Jarvis. Keep an eye out also for Susie Stoddart and Jamie Green.

To find out more about the event, including how to book tickets, visit the Brands Hatch website here. Tickets cost from £25 for adults with free entry for under-12s.

Two spectators will also win the chance to meet Hamilton as a competition prize offered by Mercedes-Benz and Brands Hatch to anybody that purchases advance tickets for the DTM event.
