F1: William Hill fancies Lewis for the double

,

News just in from William Hill on the BBC Sports Personality of the Year award. It’s a two-horse race, with the horse being ridden by Lewis Hamilton roughly half a length in front.

The Boy Wonder is odds-on at 4/7 with legendary boxer Ricky Hatton, due to take part in the fight of his life in Las Vegas this evening, at 7/4.

And (muddying the waters slightly, we felt) it is also offering 5/1 odds on him cleaning up the 2008 title, making him joint favourite with Paula Radcliffe.

The distance runner is an outside choice for the 2007 gong, currently on odds of 33/1. But the bookmaker feels the fact that 2008 is an Olympic year will significantly boost her chances.

Other people that could trouble Hamilton next year include boxer Amir Khan, cricketers Monty Panesar and Kevin Pietersen, heptathlete Kelly Sotherton and golfer Colin Montgomerie… and Jenson Button, currently on 66/1.

But enough of peering into the crystal ball. What’s the field for tomorrow night looking like?

  • Lewis Hamilton – 4/7
  • Ricky Hatton – 7/4
  • Joe Calzaghe – 12/1
  • Paula Radcliffe – 33/1
  • Christine Ohuruogu – 50/1
  • Andy Murray – 80/1
  • Jason Robinson, Justin Rose, James Toseland, Jonny Wilkinson – 100/1
