Classic Team Lotus Festival comes to Snetterton this weekend


Fans of all things Lotus are heading to Norfolk on Sunday for what should be one of the most entertaining racing-themed events of the summer.

The Classic Team Lotus Festival at Snetterton is being billed by the circuit as one of the most spectacular meetings on its 2010 calendar on the eve of what will be the 500th Grand Prix for the Lotus marque.

The festival is set to offer modern sportscar racing and classic Grand Prix demonstrations with Lotus F1 drivers Jarno Trulli, Heikki Kovalainen and Fairus Fauzy as star guests. This year’s T127 Lotus Grand Prix car will perform a demonstration on the race circuit.

Other highlights include a world-exclusive gathering of every Lotus Grand Prix car raced between 1958 and 1994, track demonstrations by classic Lotus F1 machinery and racing from the Lotus Elise Trophy and Lotus Cup Europe.

Jim Clark’s three greatest racing cars will be together for the first time ever, including the unveiling of Jim Clark’s restored Indy 500-winning Team Lotus type 38.

Support races are set to include the Production BMW Championship and Heritage Touring Cars with a Lotus Cars display including the Evora Cup and the new Elise and off-track entertainment including a free pit walk, exhibitions and a funfair.

Tickets will cost £25 on the gate with children 12 and under admitted free and senior citizens’ entry costing £15. The event runs from 9am to 6pm with free car parking.
