  • Dario Franchitti – Scots racer of Italian descent who was 2007 IRL champion and Indy 500 winner. Spent a year in NASCAR before returning to the series to drive again for Target Chip Ganassi Racing. More here…
  • Lewis Hamilton – F1 racing prodigy who became world champion in his second year in the sport following a long apprenticeship as a McLaren-sponsored driver that took in F3 and GP2. More here…
  • Adam Khan – British-born driver of Pakistani descent who races under that country’s national flag. Solid F3 and GP2 experience, then joint driver and seatholder for A1GP’s Team Pakistan. However technical issues meant his car never raced in 2008/09. Renault F1 demonstration driver. More here…

  • Oliver Turvey – promising British youngster backed by the Racing Steps Foundation. Runner-up in last years British F3 International championship, currently competing in World Series by Renault. Tipped as future F1 star. More here…
  • Dan Wheldon – has a strong claim to be the most successful Brit driving in America thanks to a string of successes in the IRL since 2002. More here…
  • Justin Wilson – the 6ft 3in former Minardi driver from Sheffield is a firm fan favourite, hence his nickname “the flying giraffe”. Following a fight to drive in F1, which led to him selling shares in his future earnings, his career’s had a renaissance in the IRL. More here…
