Champ Car: front row for Wilson

Justin Wilson struggled with a tyre delamination in Saturday qualifying for the Champ Car Grand Prix of Holland but still found himself on the front row thanks to his performance during the rain-hit Friday session.

Series leader Sebastien Bourdais continued his run of pole positions after setting the fastest time on Saturday, but Wilson’s Friday provisional pole was enough to put him on the front row despite only setting Saturday’s seventh-fastest time.

“I’m very disappointed with our lack of pace today”, said Wilson. “We just couldn’t quite work it out in qualifying and had a few problems. A rear tyre delaminated during our second stint, but I’m not sure if that was part of our problem or not.

“We’re fortunate that we got the front row slot from yesterday and now we’ve got to concentrate on making a good race car.”
