Thinking of attending Goodwood’s Festival of Speed or its Revival Meeting in 2010? In that case, get your diaries out because the organisers have just released the provisional dates.

The Festival of Speed, one of Britain’s most popular motorsport events, is expected to take place on the weekend of July 2-4 with the event theme to be finalised soon. The Revival Meeting, the country’s most complete celebration of historic racing, has been pencilled in for the weekend of September 17-19.

Tickets for both are due to go on sale in November. As always, admission to the event is by advance ticket only. For further information visit the Goodwood website or call its ticket hotline on (01243) 755055.

• Anyone who is more into the dressing-up and shopping aspects of the Revival Meeting than the cars will be interested to learn about a new venture the estate has planned for next year – Vintage at Goodwood, set for August 13-15.

Heavily trailed at this year’s Revival, its tagline is “celebrating five decades of British cool” and it is designed as a celebration of British music, fashion and culture from the 40s to the 80s. A better reason for getting those period clothes out of the wardrobe cannot be imagined.

Of course, petrolheads may not feel this is their scene at all. But consider this. You may well be able to barter your attendance at this event for a reciprocal visit to the Festival of Speed by any significant other less attracted to the smell of high-octane fuel and the rev of engines than you are.

Just a thought…
