F1: And finally… it’s the Brits on Pole ebook

We’ve been threatening this for a while – and finally it has come to pass. The Brits on Pole ebook, which is a complete record of our coverage of the 2008 Formula One season, is ready at last.

We’d certainly hoped to get it out a lot sooner than the Malaysia weekend in 2009. But, in typical fashion for us, an undertaking that we thought we’d be able to knock out in a few weeks turned into a full-scale exercise in book production.

The finished product is more than 250 pages long – so be warned, a sizeable download. It’s also a great way to look back over the drama of the most competitive season for years and to celebrate Lewis Hamilton’s first ever drivers’ championship and McLaren’s first for more than 10 years – as we are still proud to do. As well as to mark David Coulthard’s final season as a driver.

If you want to get your hands on a copy of the ebook, which is completely free, there are three ways to do it:

  • Use the subscription box on the right-hand side of the homepage. By doing this you can get the ebook and also sign up for our regular Over the White Line weekly roundup which from now on will be available by email instead of being posted on the blog. If you use this method you will be sent an email asking you to confirm that you meant to subscribe. That will more than likely end up in your spam box, so please remember to check. Once you have used that to confirm your subscription you will be sent the download link.
  • Members of the document download service Scribd will find the ebook posted there at the following location: http://www.scribd.com/doc/13993402/britsonpole2008ebook. You need to have a Scribd account to access it this way but you can sign up for free.
  • Users of the virtual world Second Life can visit the Brits on Pole office and collect the subscription link there. Take a landmark if you visit – you can get live Brits on Pole updates in-world at this location too. Click on the following link, making sure that you are logged into Second Life when you do: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Vio/100/213/27/

If you don’t like reading on a screen, or would like to give the ebook as a gift, we do plan to also make it available in a hard-copy edition soon through one of the publish-on-demand services – but that one won’t be free. The download, however, always will be.

If you think that you already signed up for the ebook, but have not received it, the reason is our double opt-in system. When you submitted your email address, you were sent an email asking you to confirm that you intended to sign up. This email more than likely ended up in your spam box.

We have only sent the subscription link to the people that confirmed they wanted to receive it so, if you didn’t get it, have another go and keep an eye on that spam box this time.

If you have any further difficulties, or want to ask any questions, contact us using the link in the ‘About Brits on Pole’ section of the top navigation.

We hope you enjoy reading it all as much as we enjoyed writing it.

The ebook download link can be picked up from the table by the sofas in our Second Life office.
