Anyone with a burning desire to meet the people on the front line of A1GP’s World Cup of Motorsport should get themselves right along to the NEC in Birmingham this weekend. (You could catch up with Jenson Button, Mark Webber and David Coulthard too, but that’s another story altogether…)

Oliver Jarvis failed to capitalise on a front row start in A1GP’s Chinese adventure, but still moved Team GBR up the standings after scoring respectable fifth and sixth place finishes.

Ireland’s Adam Carroll, charging hard after finally solving problems with an ill-fitting seat, saw pole position snatched away from him in qualifying for A1GP’s China sprint race.

Team GBR will head for Zhuhai next weekend hoping for better luck in A1GP’s China race than they suffered during the last round in Malaysia.

A seat in next year’s BMW F1 car is likely to be a very strongly-coveted proposition. And one is still open, albeit in a testing role. But, as we all know, these seats can be among the most hotly-contested of all, because of the opportunities they provide. Switzerland muscled to the top of the A1GP standings following two commanding performances by Neel Jani in Malaysia.

Swiss driver Neel Jani destroyed the opposition to score a double pole for A1GP’s Malaysian races, while Britain’s Oliver Jarvis managed a solid second and third.

Oliver Jarvis will be getting back in the A1GP car this weekend to take part in the series’ Sepang stage - and he’ll be hoping to pull off another spectacular success. The Malaysian races will take place less than a week after Jarvis celebrated a commanding win in the Macau Grand Prix - widely seen as the ‘world cup’ of Formula 3 racing.
